Commissioner McQueen Visit by Amy Sharp

Dr. Candice McQueen, Tennessee Commissioner of Education, visited Jefferson Elementary School this morning as part of the Tennessee Classroom Chronicles Tour.  Dr. McQueen was greeted by Mr. Craig Day (JES Principal), Dr. Charles Edmonds (JCS Director of Schools), JCS distric leaders, Hannah Byrd, Moses Uribe, and Austin Hodges (JES Safety Patrol Student Representatives).  Dr. McQueen's visit, focusing on observations of literacy best practices, included several classrooms and literacy small group sessions.  Staff and students were proud to have Tennessee's educational leader visit their classrooms to see the many literacy activities and the progress that JES students are making.  It was an honor to have Dr. McQueen and her team visit Jefferson Elementary School!
