Congratulations to the JCHS Chess Club victory at the Secret City VII Scholastic Chess Championships, at Oak Ridge High School, on November 3rd. JCHS Chess Club, sponsored by Lawrence Nussio, won 1st place for total points in the 7-12th division. In attendance: Graham Hicks won four out of five games earning a successful 1st place trophy in the High School Division, David Kinder received a trophy for 4th place High School Division, and Robert Trevathan III, from the Patriot Academy, won a 4th place trophy in the 7-9th Division. Team participants also include Russel McCoig, James Duncan, Alexia Hutsell, Casey Delozier, Danuel Howard, and Da’Laquan Klopfenstein.
JCHS Chess Club recognized by Board of School Commissioners
Director of Schools, Dr. Johnston, recognized the team’s success at the School Board Meeting on November 15th. The students presented their trophies and discussed Chess Club experiences with Dr. Johnston. On December 8th, the JCHS Chess Club will be in attendance at the Cedar Bluff Scholastic Chess Tournament in Knoxville. Go Patriots!
