I graduated from Jefferson County High School, in 1989. I began my college career at the University of Tennessee and transferred to Carson Newman College. After a major change from Music Therapy my junior year,  I graduated from Carson Newman, with a Bachelor of Art in English, in December 1996. I immediately began work on my Masters in the Art of Teaching Secondary Education, with an English emphasis, which I earned in July of 1999.  I worked on my Reading Specialist and am currently working toward my Doctrate in Curriculum and Leadership at Carson Newman University.

My teaching career began in August of 1999, in Gainesville, Georgia.  I taught middle school for three years, and then moved up to the high school level in 2002.  I earned my Gifted Endorsement in 2003, and my Advanced Placement Certification in Language and Composition in 2005.  I loved teaching and coaching my swim teams at Gainesville, Chestatee and Forsyth Central, but in 2008 I was called home to East Tennessee, to be closer to my family.  After my return, I taught at Morristown East High School for five and a half years, and also earned my Advanced Placement Certification in Literature and Composition in 2010.

During my teaching career, I have taught College Preparatory through Advanced Placement level, freshman through seniors, in English.  I have also taught Journalism for six years and SAT preparatory for four years.  I worked on my Reading Specialist, and currently working toward my Doctrate in Leadership and Curriculum, at Carson Newman University.

I am excited to be back at my Alma Mater and THRILLED to once again be able to say "Go Patriots!"
