In Latin 1 the first year student is taught the basic skills of grammar
in order to
enable the student to read and translate. The cultural heritage of the
roman
people is learned through cultural lectures, filmstrips and projects.

II 1Credit; 10th, 11th, & 12th
Prerequisite: Latin 1
The Latin 2 student is stimulated to enhance his development or the
proficient use
of the Latin language. A study of Roman history and classical geography
is emphasized.

Prerequisite: Latin 2
Latin 3 is a continuation of the study of Roman culture, writers,
and Latin grammar.

In French 1, various techniques are used to develop a basic
understanding of the French
language. Emphasis is placed on listening, speaking, reading and
writing. Students will
also learn about French countries and their culture.

Prerequisite: French 1
French 2 is focused on developing reading and writing skills with
continued
emphasis. French grammar and constant practice in French phonetics are
included.

Prerequisite: French 2(Check Singleton Calendar to determine
when offered)
French 3 is a continuation of French 2. It focuses on aiding those
college bound students
in placement testing--speaking and understanding. Students will learn
about French history
and holidays.

are introduced to the German language, its people, and their culture.
Through various techniques and activities, students are exposed to--

German 2 promotes language learning by using a vast array of realia and
additional material
to create communication "situations" with in-depth grammar and
vocabulary acquisition
exercises to prepare the student for college.

III 1Credit; 11th, & 12th
Prerequisite: German 2
German 3 is highly recommended for college bound students, this level
reinforces previous
materials while continuing to develop fluency using using a variety of
techniques. Students
are expected to use the German language.

IV 1Credit; 12th
Prerequisite: German 3
German 4 is a capstone course continuing the development and
refining the skills of listening,
speaking, reading, and writing. This class may be taught
during another class period and will
require some independent learning.
A fee is charged to cover the expenses of the additional materials.

Spanish and Latin American history, literature, poetry, and culture.
